Some recent achievements of our graduates.
- Murdoch's Louise Perry who has been advised that she is
one of only two cadet journalists to be employed by "The
Australian" this year. Louise did an undergrad degree
at Murdoch majoring in philosophy, politics and communications
(minor in journalism) and won a VC's commendation for her
final year of studies in 2000. In 2001, she completed the
graduate diploma in journalism, along the way winning several
journalism prizes including three national student journalism
awards. For the past year, she has also done a great job tutoring
for us in undergraduate journalism courses, while completing
internships at "The West Australian" and "The
Australian" and then working casually for "The Australian"
and Community News. In January she was one of two Murdoch
students to participate in the inaugural in-country Indonesia
journalism practicum organised by ACICIS. Louise was placed
with Associated Press and excelled in the role -- even making
a cameo appearance around the world on CNN!
- Geet Frank, a Mass Communications student, spent her summer
break with the Asian Wall Street Journal doing the H325 Professional
Placement unit. She has recently accepted a full-time position
with the paper as a news assistant in Hong Kong, whilst continuing
her studies in Mass Communication via correspondence.
- Christina Pask (Townsville) and Gemma Rafferty (Great Southern)
have secured two of the ABC Regional Radio Producer jobs in
the current round.
- One of Roger Simms' former students, the famed Basil Zempalis,
was reporting live from Salt Lake City for Channel 7.
